Win Your Man’s Love by Triggering His Inner “Prince Charming”

inner prince charming
England’s Prince Harry just married. Meghan Markle nailed him, and she’s not letting go.

Not without a lot of drama, 50 covers of PEOPLE MAGAZINE and plenty of gossip in the celebrity blogs.

There aren’t many eligible princes left in the world, and that’s okay.

You don’t need Prince Charming to fulfill your dreams and live happily ever after.

You just want one good man.

In recent decades a lot of self-appointed apostles have take pleasure in shooting down the entire concept of wanting to marry a Prince Charming, or wanting a knight in shining armor to rescue women from ordinary life.

Be strong, they tell you. You don’t need a man. If you want one, okay, but you can solve all your own problems. There’re no more knights, no more Prince Charmings.

That’s an antiquated stereotyped  designed to keep women weak.

And that’s too bad. It’s sad, really.

Sure, guys don’t ride around the countryside looking for damsels in distress to rescue anymore. Modern women are more like to suffer frustration in a low-paying job than to be kidnapped by ruffians. More likely to worry about paying off their college loans than a fire-breathing dragon. And far more likely to be frightened of global warming than a man in a black top hat and mustache tying them onto railroad tracks.

Fairy tales are great. And dreaming about marrying Prince Charming made sense when the only  other choice was between Joe the blacksmith’s son and Fred the barley farmer. Only real princes had real wealth and power.

Of course, these days you may fall in love with a software engineer, the manager of a Wendy’s or an architect. You don’t expect a wealthy man to ride into your life and rescue you from being ordinary.

It’s not about money. It’s not about solving all your personal problems. It’s about allowing the man you love to rescue you from being ordinary because he sees you as the woman of his dreams. As anything but ordinary.

He doesn’t expect to ever rescue you from kidnapping by a nefarious villain. But, if you allow him, you’ll be the woman who makes him feel wanted and needed.

He’ll channel his inner Prince Charming for you, and be grateful for the opportunity.

That’s what the “Forget that Prince Charming and White Knight nonsense” crowd are missing.

Sure, women are strong, and must do what they can to solve their own problems. You can’t wait for anybody, knight in shining armor or fairy godmother, to wave a magic wand on your behalf.

But the modern world still contains plenty of problems for both men and women. And we all need help. That’s not a gender thing, it’s a human being thing.

We all feel stronger when we face the world with a partner watching our backs, supporting us when we’re weaker.

That’s why we get married.

No matter how superficially sophisticated the man of your choice is, he’ll respond to the chance to channel his inner Prince Charming.

Just don’t tell him that’s what he’s doing.
